Job well done

We have completed the church! A group of 19 worked to lay flooring, trim, hang lights and paint. Thanks to all that helped! The carpet is being installed in the next few days but that did not stop Christian Valley from having their first service in the new building.

02/04/2012 Framing

We have started framing. On Thursday 6 on us drove down here to set up camp, make sure we could get NBC to watch the Super Bowl and start framing. Today the rest of our group starting arriving and a few more will be coming tomorrow. Friday forenoon was nice but then turned into light rain. Today's weather was great, well at least while working. We quit around 3:00 and by 4 it was raining hard. Our shower trailer is working out great and the washer and dryer were put to use after working in the rain.
Hopefully we have made our last trip to Demopolis for supper as our cooks have arrived!

A firm foundation

The foundation is complete!
Blaine Miller and Scott Troyer traveled down January 4Th, pulling the newly built shower trailer. They worked Thursday, Friday and Saturday, leveling the site, digging the footer and clearing many downed trees.
Monday morning they were joined by Glenn Coblentz, Eric Worland, JJ Robertson, Rick Miller and Tyler Miller to do concrete and Perry Miller and Dan Dutcher to do plumbing.
The footer was poured by 11:00, plumbing and septic happened in the afternoon along with prepping for the floor.
Tuesday came with lots of rain, so pouring the floor was put off until Wednesday and a concrete pumper was needed as the site got very muddy after the rain.

Shower trailer

Need a shower, we have that covered!

The church we are staying at does not have showers. So, we made this shower trailer, to be used on this and other projects. Four showers, Hotwater heater and washer and dryer. Thanks to all that donated time and material.

A new project

Several Hartville area Mennonite Churches are joining together to rebuild the Christian Valley Church building in Boligee Alabama. It was destroyed by a tornado on April 27 2011. The building is 5000 sq ft, L shaped. The exterior will be bricked.
Our weekly schedule is
January 9, Foundation
February 6, Framing
February 13, Wire, insulating and brick
February 20 Drywall
February 27 Drywall
March 5, Paint and Trim
We will be using the Little Zion Baptist Church for meals and lodging. A side note; Little Zion was rebuilt after the racial fires in 1996, with the help of Mennonites.
